Polynucleotides are injectable skin treatments designed to promote tissue repair and rejuvenation. Derived from fragmented DNA found in salmon or trout sperm, Polynucleotides improve skin hydration and collagen production, leading to revitalised and tighter skin. Also referred to the "salmon sperm facial" on social media.

POLYNUCLEOTIDES

Polynucleotides: Transformative Skin Rejuvenation

Polynucleotides are injectable serums derived from salmon or trout sperm DNA. These remarkable molecules mimic human DNA and function as messenger proteins.

Polynucleotides interact with cells, enhancing the production of fibroblasts. These fibroblasts are responsible for generating essential proteins like collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid—all crucial for resilient skin.

Skin Concerns Benefiting from Polynucleotides:

Polynucleotides (PNs) offer a versatile solution for various skin concerns:

PLINEST

What is PLINEST?

PLINEST is a polynucleotide-based product used for skin rejuvenation, repair, and regeneration.

How does PLINEST work?

Derived from purified salmon DNA, PLINEST utilises the unique properties of polynucleotides to improve skin health and appearance. PLINEST works by delivering high-quality polynucleotides directly to the skin, triggering several biological processes that lead to skin regeneration and rejuvenation:

  • Hydration and Moisture Retention: Polynucleotides attract water molecules, significantly improving skin hydration and maintaining optimal moisture levels. This hydration effect helps to plump the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Fibroblast Activation: PLINEST stimulates fibroblasts, the key cells involved in collagen and elastin production. This stimulation enhances skin elasticity and firmness, giving the skin a more youthful and toned appearance.

  • Anti-Inflammatory and Antioxidant Properties: Polynucleotides have strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help reduce skin inflammation and neutralise free radicals. This leads to improved skin texture and tone and a reduction in signs of aging.

  • Cell Repair and Regeneration: The polynucleotides in PLINEST facilitate cell repair and regeneration by providing the necessary building blocks for nucleic acid synthesis. This process supports the natural healing and rejuvenation of damaged skin cells.

How Many Treatments Are Recommended?

For best results, it is recommended to perform a series of 3 treatments with an interval of 20 days apart. You’ll notice a gradual improvement in your skin quality as the tissues regenerate. Most people see a difference after 3-4 weeks, but keep in mind that this is a regenerative treatment, so things will continue to improve. For full results, expect to see the best outcome around 3 months later. For the best results repeat your treatment after 6-12 months.

Treatment & Events

 Polynucleotide treatments are typically administered:

  1. Preparation: Before the treatment begins, a local anesthetic cream is applied to numb the area. This ensures the comfort of our client during the procedure.

  2. Injection: The polynucleotides, which are long chains of DNA, are then injected into the targeted area. This is done using a fine needle or a blunt-ended tube, known as a cannula. The injection is very superficial, meaning it’s just below the surface of the skin. There will be a slight pain, stinging during injections, minor bleeding, bruising in the treatment area may occur, swelling and redness. Several injections are needed to spread the treatment in the area of concern. After injections, your skin may have raised bumps that look like little ant bites, this is normal and usually settles within 24/48 hours.

  3. Absorption: Once injected, the DNA fragments are slowly absorbed into your skin without leaving any lumps. They integrate within your skin and start signaling your skin in various ways.

  4. Stimulation: The polynucleotides stimulate fibroblast cells to multiply in number and boost their activity. As cell renewal improves, so will collagen production, hydration levels, and skin glow. Your skin becomes more resilient with improved elasticity and wrinkles start diminishing.

  5. Healing: Polynucleotides function as wound healing agents, signaling your skin to intensely repair. This helps improve scars, reduce stretch marks, and improve skin texture concerns.

  6. Results: The result of the treatment depends on a variety of factors, including the degree of your skin ageing prior to the treatment, your skin’s ability to regenerate good quality tissue when stimulated, and your lifestyle.

Polynucleotides can be used to treat various hair conditions, including hair damage and hair loss. If you’re interested in these treatments or have a specific brand preference, we encourage you to reach out to us. We can schedule a session for your hair treatment and discuss your preferences in more detail.

Another remarkable aspect is that the risk of vascular occlusion (a blocked artery) is virtually nonexistent. Here’s why:

  1. DNA Fragments in Water:

    • The treatment involves tiny DNA fragments suspended in water.

    • These fragments closely mimic the components already present in your bloodstream. As a result, they seamlessly integrate without causing blockages.

  2. No Gel, No Obstruction:

    • Unlike some treatments that use gel-based substances, this method avoids any chance of blockages. The absence of gel ensures a smooth and safe experience.

In summary, the use of DNA fragments in water offers both effectiveness and safety, minimizing any risk of vascular issues.

There is a small risk of bruising or swelling to the treated areas which can develop in the hours/days afterwards, and it is therefore advisable that the treatment is performed at least 2 weeks before any event. This can be discussed further to help you plan when to have your treatment.

The difference between Skin Boosters and Polynucleotides:

Skin Boosters

Mechanism:

  • Skin boosters, such as Profhilo, primarily focus on boosting moisture levels in the skin.

  • They contain hyaluronic acid, which provides hydration and plumping effects.

Effects:

  • Immediate improvement in skin texture due to increased hydration.

  • Mild stimulation of collagen production.

Areas of Application:

  • Typically used for general skin hydration, especially in areas like the face, neck, and hands.

Pros:

  • Quick results.

  • Safe and well-tolerated.

  • Suitable for various skin types.

Cons:

  • Requires multiple sessions for optimal results.

  • Effects are temporary and need maintenance.

Polynucleotides (PNs)

Mechanism:

  • PNs are derived from salmon or trout sperm DNA.

  • They actively signal cells to produce collagen and elastin.

  • Repair damaged skin cells through the use of DNA fragments.

Effects:

  • Long-lasting improvements in skin texture and elasticity.

  • Address areas where many skin boosters cannot reach (e.g., eyes, lips, forehead).

Areas of Application:

  • Effective for various facial areas, including under the eyes, neck, jawline, and cheekbones.

  • Revolutionising under-eye treatments.

Pros:

  • Natural skin rejuvenation.

  • Significant improvement in hydration.

  • Biocompatible and safe.

Cons:

  • Contains animal-derived ingredients (not suitable for vegetarians, vegans, or fish-allergic individuals).

Summary: While skin boosters provide immediate hydration, polynucleotides offer deeper repair and longer-lasting effects.
